What are the causes and symptoms of gonorrhoea?

Gonorrhoea is highly contagious and can cause pain and trouble. When having unprotected sex, the Neisseria Gonorrhoeae bacteria can nestle in the penis, vagina, anus, throat or eyes, causing gonorrhoea.
Symptoms may vary between men and women. women experience a different vaginal discharge, additional menstrual blood loss and painful urination. Men can have pus-like discharges from the penis and pain while urinating.

How can gonorrhoea be treated?

Quick treatment is essential to prevent further serious infection. Next to treatment it is very important to inform your sexual partner(s) about your condition and advise them to get tested and treated as well. In order to prevent further spreading of the bacteria, it is highly advised to not have unprotected sex until you know you are cured from the bacteria.
