Finasteride (Hair loss)
Finasteride comes in 1mg packages and 5mg packages. The 1mg packages are used for treating hair loss in men, while the 5mg packages are used for treating a condition in men called BPH (enlarged prostate). The product on this page is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss. The levels of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are lowered so less hair is lost or hair will grow again.
- Used to treat: male pattern hair loss (alopecia).
- Effect: lowers level of DHT. This hormone shortens growth phase of hair.
- Result: slows down progression of hair loss and/or improves hair growth.
