What are the symptoms of vaginal thrush?
Many women experience vaginal thrush, a yeast infection. Like other yeast infections, vaginal thrush causes itching and pain and an uncomfortable feeling for many women. You may also experience a white creamy discharge. Having sexual intercourse may also be painful. When the irritated skin comes into contact with urine, this might increase the feelings of discomfort and pain. When you have a severe yeast infection, your vagina might become swollen and red. It is important to make sure you have a yeast infection and do not suffer from an STI which sometimes causes the same symptoms (vaginal thrush is not an STI).
What treatment can be used for vaginal thrush?
Diflucan is a vaginal thrush treatment which slows down the yeast infection. Its active ingredient is fluconazole. Fluconazole attacks the call membrane of the fungal cells which start to die within days. It might take a while for the symptoms to fully disappear, therefore it is important to finish the prescribed dosage.
When can I use Diflucan (Fluconazole)?
You can use Diflucan to treat a vaginal thrush yeast infection. You may not use Diflucan when you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Liver problems are also a contraindication for the use of Diflucan.
Fluconazole is known to interact which several other drugs. Always make sure to fully fill out the questionnaire and include any other medication you are using.
