Whey they do, they may have soreness and itching around the vagina. Your vaginal discharge might be thicker, thinner or yellowish in colour and may have an unpleasant fishy smell (some women describe the smell as ‘fishy’). Some women also experience pain or discomfort during urinarion or during intercourse.
When you have Trichomonas vaginalis, you can treat it with an antibiotic calles Metronidazole which is usually quite effective in treating the infection.
If you have one of the following physical conditions, you may not use Metronidazole:
You may not use Metronizadole in combination with alcohol. Even small amounts of alcohol will cause a reaction, often dizziness, headaches, sweating, red skin and other sympoms. Refrain from using alcohol for at least two days after you have finished taking Metronidazole to make sure all its contents have disappeared from the body.
In rare cases angioedema might occur, this is a reaction to the drug and causes (severe) swelling of the mouth, lips, throat, tongue, eyes or entire face. Should this occur while using Metronidazole, immediately contact a physician or hospital and tell them you suspect an allergic reaction to Metronidazole.
